We are constantly getting requests for new toys. And for obvious reason - sugar gliders are just way too smart for their own good!
They constantly crave exploration and new challenges. We have long recommended changing and / or rotating the items inside your sugar glider's habitat every once in awhile just to keep them full of surprise and delight.
Every year, we test dozens of toys that ultimately end up in a big "NO-NO" box out in our warehouse.
Safety is our number one priority, so it can take us awhile to find something that meets our stringent safety standards.
We want to ensure every component of the toy is suggie safe, which means all materials must be non-toxic.
But we also require that each toy we offer provides a variety of functions for your inquisitive li'l ones.
So when we locate such a toy, we are tickled pink when it looks cool too.
And there you have it: CurlyGig! This toy, which is shaped like a horizontal corkscrew, provides all kinds of fun and games for the special fuzzbutts in your life.
SunCoast's Quality Assurance Lab consists of a crew of rough tumblers (both marsupial and human) and this toy is sturdy.
The CurlyGig offers a myriad of potential games. There's the obvious appeal of the jewel-toned danglies, which are like low-hanging fruit to a sugar glider - what marvelous
marsupial wouldn't just wanna take a bat at those shiny dangling gems?!
Some suggies may follow the turnpike that'll make them feel like they're in a funhouse - in fact, Arnold thinks it's just "a-maze-ing" - yuk yuk yuk.
Others may want to sc'daddle through the inner part, as if it were a tunnel.
And what about a glider on each end, working the CurlyGig in "see-saw" style?
And if you're REALLY lucky, you may stir up some competition and see a pair of gliders engaging
in a game of tug of war with the hangy dangly things! The list just goes on and on.

The construction materials used in this toy are all sugar glider safe.
The green "corkscrew" and colorful dangling cylinders are all acrylic.
Acrylic is sturdy, non porous and a cinch to clean. Plus, the retro look of acrylic just looks so cool in your home - kinda like one of those pricey lucite or bakelite items from the 1950's!
The dangling cylinders are hanging from food-grade colored cords, which are knotted at each end to hold the danglers in place.
All of the metal parts on this toy are nickel plated steel, which is
non-toxic to sugar gliders. On the bright little bell, the plating process
included color to give it that extra pop. Each toy has a uniquely colored bell, so we can't promise you a specific color, but we can tell you each will have one of the vibrant jewel-tone colors shown to the left (red, purple or blue).
The metal parts on this toy include:
1) A pear clip at the top for hanging the toy from the top of the animal's cage / habitat.
2) A heavy duty chain hanging from the bottom of the pear clip allows the toy to safely rock from side to side.
3) A small split ring / key ring is secured onto the bottom link of the chain and has a brightly colored bell attached to it. This 13mm (1/2")
key ring is especially great if you want to remove the bell and / or hook another
fun li'l extra something from the ring.
The width of the CurlyGig is just over 7" across; from the top of the pear clip to the bottom of the "corkscrew", the height is 9".
The height measurement for the "corkscrew" only is about 4".
The height on each cylinder (a.k.a., 'hangy dangly') is 1-1/4"; the width is 1/2".
From end to end, each cord measures about 5-1/2".
The chain is 3-1/2" in height. The bell measures just under 1-1/2" high and 1-1/4" wide at the bottom of the bell, which is its widest point.
This toy is a perfect complement to a Swing Thing or
Wheel of Terror and is a great way to add some variety - and style - to your sugar gliders' habitat.
