When our customers speak, we listen!
Over the last several years, we’ve sold oodles of the Deluxe
Hexagonal Cage and a lot of people have wanted this cage, but the
hexagonal cage dimensions are actually “too big” to fit in certain rooms.
And because of the shape of the hex cage (it's six-sided), it doesn't fit into corners or flat against the wall.
You asked us to find a cage just as tall and just as attractive as
the Deluxe, but one that would fit into a corner easier than the
Deluxe Hexagonal Cage.
Finally, after years of searching, we’ve found a cage that meets our high standards, is attractively priced, and fits
in a corner! In other words, it's a great big rectangular
cage. This cage is a bit smaller than the hex Deluxe Cage,
but the price a bit smaller too! We are firm advocates that habitats can’t really be too big for our fuzzy
sugar glider friends, but we are also realistic and understand that the habitat you choose must conform well to your living space.
The entire cage is 66" tall; unlike Deluxe
Hexagonal cage, almost all of this height is cage space. The
cage is 24" deep from front to back and 28 inches wide
from wall to wall (see diagram at left). The stylish "pyramid" roof overhangs
the cage walls about 4" on all sides. This cage has
just under 25 cubic feet of volume - 4 cubic feet less than the
Deluxe hex. There are only two doors (on the front) that measure 9” x 9.5” each.
This is perhaps the only downside we see to this habitat; the doors are a bit
smaller (9" versus 14" for the Hex, which also has 2
additional 5" doors).
On the good side, however, is the roof will come off easily by only removing four screws, so those big toys and cool branches can be still be used without having to go through a major reconstruction project.
The cage is outfitted with a pullout drawer in the single piece heavy duty base and a pullout grill making bedding replacement quick and easy.
The doors do not have locks, but they are quite heavy; in fact, too heavy for sugar gliders to lift.
We really like the security issues with this cage a lot. The cage is mounted on four easy roll casters.
This cage is very similar in design and construction to our very popular
Deluxe Hexagonal cage. The primary difference between the two is that this cage is rectangular,
so it tucks more neatly into a corner of the room and doesn’t stick out as
far. Also, another thing we really like about this cage is it is
easier to assemble than our Deluxe Hex model primarily due to the single piece roof construction.
The cage looks like a piece of furniture and the neutral
coloration not only enhances your décor, but you can get great
viewing of your sugar gliders in action! The spacious
environment provides ample space for toys, pouches, branches and up to four busy sugar
gliders (the Deluxe Hexagonal cage
can hold
5 gliders comfortably).
Assembly is required! Assembly time takes a half hour (versus
1 1/2 hours for the Deluxe Hex cage) and the only tools needed are a flat head (slotted) screwdriver and a pliers.
Safety features: Sugar glider safe powder-coated paint. 1/2 inch bar spacing. Heavy, inescapable doors.
You could expect to pay $400 or more for this cage in a pet store, if you are even able to find one this big with the right bar spacing!
