When shipping sugar gliders and the outdoor temperature in either
the ship from city, transfer city, or destination city is a bit too
chilly (less than 65 degrees), we recommend that you use a portable
heat source to protect your sugar gliders from the elements.
We've used these heat packs in the dead of winter and have found
that they are quite effective in keeping the gliders warm and
cozy. This one-time use, disposable heating pad heats to
110-135 degrees for 35 hours plus, keeping the transit
cage at a comfortable temperature plenty long enough to get your
sugar gliders transported safely.
These heat packs are "turned on" when removed from the
plastic outer packaging and exposed to oxygen in the air. High
grade iron powder contained within undergoes rapid rusting from
which heat is a by-product. We recommend placing the heat pack
under a shallow amount of aspen shavings and the sugar glider inside
of a nest box or sleeping pouch.
Do not place the sugar glider directly in contact with the heat
pack. We are highly experienced in shipping young sugar
gliders that are slightly over 2 months OOP (out of pouch) in
age. The babies have always done very well with this
product. As a word of caution, however, babies are not usually
big time chewers, so we are not concerned with the babies getting
into the heat pack itself. If you are shipping adult sugar gliders, you may want to use extra precautions
to protect the heat pack from being "opened". Because of
the sugar glider's nocturnal nature, it is highly unlikely than any
sugar glider will want to stay awake if you are shipping during
daylight hours.
The Heat Source 35+ is easy to use:
1. Open the outer wrapper and remove inner pad.
2. Shake contents in open air. Heat will begin to be generated in
4-5 minutes.
3. Place the heat source in shipping container.
4. After use, dispose of outer wrapper and expired heat pack
properly.
Contents: All natural ingredients - iron powder, activated charcoal
powder, cellulose, zeolite and water. Nontoxic, Nonflammable, and
Biodegradable.
