As any fashionista worth her weight in Jimmy Choos can tell you, wearing white only during the summer is just passe.  Likewise, not getting your pet a holiday gift is so NG (i.e., not good)!  After all, our pets are our family members, love us unconditionally and get excited each time we "eew" and "ahh' over them.

If you've gotten to know us over the years, one thing you know is our CEG (Chief Executive Glider), Arnold, absolutely loves, loves, loves the holidays.  The festivities, rituals, decorations, parties, meals, gifts - he's convinced they are 100% about him.  To quote our fearless leader in all his glory, "Aw yeah, holly-dayze are here again - WOO-HOO!"  Yup, as usual, our CEG's got it right - the holidays are definitely here again.  

Needless to say, Arnold has been chomping at the yogurt bits to get his brand new holiday picks in his store.  As humans, we don't always kick off the season with the same gusto that Arnold does, but we're definitely on board with his holiday "hot pick" for 2008.  Not only is it a great toy for sugar gliders, but it is also one of the most beautiful holiday offerings for suggies we've ever seen.  In fact, it's so colorful and cheery, we're tempted to hang one on our own tree, a couple from the ceiling and another from the mailbox!

This zippy holiday toy is a multi-tiered tree full of festive colors.  The materials include wood, braided vineballs, nickel plated steel fixtures and lollipop sticks, which all receive SunCoast's safety seal of approval for sugar glider safety.

The tree will pawsitively tower over your suggies! From the very top of the pear clip (located just above the sunny yellow star topper) all the way down to the bottom of the nickel-plated bell, the toy measures 14".  At more than a foot long, this is one ginormous tree!  The spine of the tree is a thick, sturdy steel wire which loops at the top for the pear clip, as well as at the bottom for the bell.   The "tree stand", so to speak, is a cute little wooden block with letters, numbers and / or pictures.  There is a smooth hole drilled through the middle of the wooden block tree stand, through which the "wire spine" loops at the very bottom so the bell can dangle from it.

But wait!  There's more!

Part of the reason Arnold named this toy the "Lolly Tree" is because throughout the green vine balls, there are rolled paper lollipop sticks that have been dyed with a suggie-safe food grade veggie dye in all sorts of bright colors, including orange, red, blue, yellow, purple, green, etc.  As suggies are inquisitive, smart, curious and nosy, you may find your li'l fuzzball grabbing, pushing and / or pulling the lolly sticks until they remove them from the tree, which makes this an interactive holiday toy for suggie and human alike.  Your suggies may pull out the lolly sticks and toss them on the bottom of the cage. You simply re-create the toy for them by sliding the sticks back into the vine balls, and the fun starts all over again!

Or for interactive play, suggie pushes out stick, human snatches it up and inserts it back in; human pushes out stick, suggie goes wild with excitement; human pulls out stick and another suggie pal now wants in on the fun, so human becomes a "love peck recipient" from second suggie!  Warning: Lolly Tree may generate intense holiday play, which may result in human passing out from exhaustion!

The braided grapevine balls also make it easy to insert a variety of your suggies' favorite sweet treats. Bits of yogurt, papaya and mango treats wedged in between the vines will make your suggie go ballistic!  There is no limit to how many uniquely different activities you can create by incorporating other lightweight accessories and toys to the Lolly Tree.  For instance, try inserting a few leafy vines to add a touch of an "Aussie Rainforest holiday".

As we said before, the Lolly Tree is big:

If your glider is a chewer, the lolly sticks might get chewed on.  No worries on that though - the sticks  will not harm them. We often recycle toilet paper cores for gliders to play with and chew on, and this toy is a whole lot prettier than a toilet paper core!

Arnold insists we hang two in his area - one for the inside of his cage and another above the cage so he can dole out face hugs to us beneath the uber-swank tree, instead of underneath a drab ole sprig of mistletoe.  This beautiful toy complements other in-cage toys like the Wodent Wheel, Feather Teaser, or SwingThing.
