The Wheel of Terror! Sound scary? Well, Arnold’s first encounter with the product was
certainly a wild ride! As usual, Arnold took only mere minutes - from the time he woke up
- to discover that something new was sprouting in his palatial estate.
So in his highly curious manner, he ran
to this new brightly colored object and, without a second thought, jumped on top to explore...
...Zip, Wheeee, Zoom … this thing spins really fast! At first we didn’t understand why the brightly color cotton fabric was tied around the rungs of this spinning
tornado. But after Arnold’s first encounter, it was quite obvious that the ties are necessary to hang on for dear life!
And the "spin-ability" of the toy is adjustable (more info
below) so you can start your glider out with a "mild"
experience before turning this toy into a "wild"
experience.
This toy is a fast spinning, high speed race-to-thrills for even the most daring glider.
It’s a challenging apparatus and one that Arnold is still trying to master!
Got a daredevil on your hands? Well, you can be assured the Wheel of Terror will provide
endless fun for your fuzzbutt!
And we are just smitten with the way this toy looks! Each
toy is unique so we can't promise you specific colors on the fabric
strips or the sides of the wheel, though we can tell you each wheel
side will be one of the 4 vibrant jewel-tone color panels
shown to the left. This toy is very well made and extremely durable,
but the fabric strips may eventually need replacing after extensive use
(fleece strips would be an inexpensive replacement, if ever
required).
Whether trying to run outside the spindle bars, through the middle, to the left or to the right,
just the slightest touch will start the wheel spinning faster than a glider can keep up!
Watch your suggie grab onto the fabric tie and swing back and forth like a free range glider in a tree top canopy during a wind storm!
Whhhooooooooaaaa!
At first we weren’t sure Arnold liked the movement of this toy because
it's such an unusual sensation, but when he kept coming back for
more and more, we knew it had his stamp of approval. His first few attempts left him in a rather silly position and his only option was to let go and drop to the bottom of the cage.
For this reason, we suggest you start using the
Wheel of Terror down low in the cage until your glider gets the hang of it
(literally!)
You can also adjust the "spin-ability" of the wheel to
the weight and agility of your glider. The wheel spins around
one long screw. If you grab the long white spacer and tighten
the center screw of the wheel, it takes
more action and weight to spin the wheel. Loosen the
screw and the ride gets wilder! You know gliders crave variety,
and with this toy it is easy to provide new experiences by changing
the "tightness" of the wheel on the shaft.
The Wheel of Terror can be mounted to hang inside of the habitat, and sometimes we
even attach Arnold’s to the outside of his home so he can play with his toy while out of “lock down”.
The hardware on this product consists of two large circular metal plates,
one placed on each side of the cage wire and fastened to a bolt with a large
wingnut. Oversized connectors are used to prevent the
cage wire from bending, as some toys can do.
The safety of your sugar gliders is the primary concern here at
SunCoast. Our quality assurance team conducted extensive
research to ensure every detail in the construction of this toy was
top-of-the-line. The hard plastic construction will not be susceptible to chewing
gliders
and the metal hardware parts are either nickel plated or stainless steel.
We want you to have peace of mind knowing your glider is safe, while
your glider spends countless hours having lots of crazy fun!
So when
shopping other glider stores, ask what the clips, chains, or other
metal items are made of. Wrong answers include "I dunno", "it says on the package they are zinc plated"
(includes most shiny hardware store items), or "galvanized metal".
In other words, if it ain't nickel you could be in a pickle.
The Wheel of Terror (WOT) is a very quiet toy, but you may not notice
this if you are squealing with excitement while you are watching the Xtreme
maneuvers during the Glider Wheel of Terror X-Games!
